Siverstone

Picture
Next, onto the home of British motorsport, Silverstone, the only wet session of the year to date was in qualifying and it went well, I will looking forward to some more this year!

We had our first top 10 finish in heat 2 on the Saturday, the
first minor break through, then followed it up by another in the final. The
opening heat on Sunday was even better, feeling more comfortable racing wheel to wheel in the pack, losing some of the race-craft rustiness from being out of the seat for 18 months. I ended up finishing 6th - our first top 6 and had to come from 13th, so confirming that the speed was starting to come. I had a shot
of the overall podium come the final, enhanced by a huge first lap crash which I just missed, that took out several runners.
I had worked my up to 8th, then had a collision with #34 John
Bell, which bent my steering arm and effectively ended my race as a competitive
contest. Whilst mentioning John, J.R.A Motorsport would like to wish him a
speedy recovery from his nasty crash at Mallory.

On a positive we came away from Silverstone having made several
steps forward and feeling confident about the next round at Croft.

Croft is a superb circuit, great mix of different corners, and we
made good progress with the car setup, and as a result we gained a 6th overall on the Saturday meeting with results of 9th, 7th and a slightly disappointing 12th in the final where I was a little too conservative, lesson learnt there!

However, I was awarded with driver of the day, which was a nice
surprise and a great reward for all the hard work by the team. Sunday went well too, starting off with another personal best of 5th, but a bit of bad luck struck in heat 2, whilst running 7th, I developed an oil leak which hindered my
sight in the fast race and ended up 13th.
For sure this cost me my maiden podium overall, but the team did
a great job to get me back out for the final where I finished 8th.
