James Supports the Richard Burns Foundation
JRA Motorsport driver James Holman is taking an unusual route to the opening two rounds of the 2012 Legends UK Championship. The 2011Rookie Champion is getting on his bike and riding to the Brands Hatch and Silverstone venues, raising money for the Richard Burns Foundation. (www.richardburnsfoundation.com).
“Richard was someone who I always admired and idolised
whilst Karting, - we are from neighbouring villages in South Oxfordshire, so I always watched his progress with extra interest. Obviously I was devastated when Richard passed away, to lose someone at such a young age that should have been not only winning further world titles, but having a family and all the normal things in life is just incomprehensible”.
“When I saw the video released by the RBF in November to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his title win, my admiration for him grew immeasurably, to see him smile, laugh and fight the brain cancer that he had was just incredible, and it made me think what I could do to honour his memory. Obviously I knew of the foundation set up in his name, and when I saw the opening two rounds of the season were going to be Brands and Silverstone it all clicked into place”.
The Richard Burns Foundation was set up by some of his
closest friends and colleagues as a lasting tribute to his memory. It aims tohelp people who are affected by serious illness or injury.
