First podium Mallory 2011

Picture
James started indoor karting aged 9 in 1994, achieving a podium in only his 3rd ever race. 1996 saw him move into the outdoor karting scene, where in his first race as a novice, he was placed 4th out of the 22 runners,
despite having to start every race from the back of the grid.

Over the next 4 years James had various successes at junior level racing, gaining many podiums and race wins along the way.
In 2000 James became the youngest ever qualifier to the TKM senior championships, having just turned 15.
2001 saw his best results to date, he won the prestigious Midland Championships, the Little Rissington club championship and achieved the UK number 11 seed in the Super
1 championships.

Over the next 3 years in the TKM class, James got onto the podium twice at the Gold Cup, gained another seeding at Super 1 level, but more importantly won the TKM Festival cup from a field of well over 100 entrants. James became a double club champion at Little Rissington, and was presented with their driver-of-the-year award.

2005 saw him move into the ultra-powerful 125 ICC Kart class, where he made an immediate impact by finishing as the UK number 6 seed, including a couple of podiums along the way.
The following year saw him battling for the British title, however some bad luck
in the final round saw him having to settle for 7th seeding. The highlight of
the year undoubtedly came at the Southern Championships, where James dominated
proceedings and won the final by an unprecedented margin of 8 seconds.

Over the next 3 years, James claimed two more top 10 finishes in the
national championships and a winter championship win at the Hunts Kart
Racing Club, as well as many race wins and podiums.

In 2010, James took a year off racing to evaluate his future career
plans as he felt that his time in karts had run its
course.

This reassessment led to James and his JRA Motorsport team to enter Legends racing in 2011, it did not take long for him to catch the organisers eye and become the stand out rookie of the year. At the opening event at Brands Hatch, James took home all rookie awards, and became the RSCapp 'Star Rookie'.

In only the 5th round James achieved his first top 6 finish at the super-fast Croft
circuit, which ensured that he was presented with the prestigious 'Driver of the day' award. At Anglesey he claimed the John Nicol Award as 'Driver of the weekend',

Mallory Park for round 11 of the Legends series saw James finally make it onto the podium outright for the first time, which he hopes will be the first of many!

At Pembrey James tied up the coveted ‘Rookie Championship’ for 2011.

Following a successful 2011 first season James will build on the experience he gained  and  launch  an assault on the overall 2012 Legends championship.

All this would not be possible without the support of the family and the whole JRA Motorsport team, especially his parents, who have made this all possible!
